Rosemount Area Arts Council's "Artists' Talk"

Had a great crowd at the opening of the Rosemount Area Arts Council's "Artists' Talk" at the Steeple Center on Wednesday, October 26. I shared the evening's honors with Betsy Preston, a photographer who visited Vietnam in April of this year. She brought back terrific photos of the country while I displayed pencil sketches and watercolors done during my first visit in '1968-69 and watercolors from my second visit to Vietnam in 1993. Telling tales about my "In-country" tour with the Army prompted conversations with several veterans in the audience. Though Vietnam "Then and Now" was the show's theme it wasn't all Southeast Asia. In an adjacent corridor I showed watercolors of Florida scenes, Minnesota's North Shore, Arizona flora, and Charleston Harbor's Fort Sumter. Enjoyed meeting folks and trading stories about the origin of each picture as well as family members who served in Vietnam. The photos and artwork are available for viewing from 8 in the morning until 4:30, Monday thru Friday. Visit: www.rosemountarts.com The show runs thru December at the Steeple Center, adjacent to the Robert Trail Library (14375 South Robert Trail, Rosemount, MN 55068).
